In Matt 7:16, Jesus says “By their fruits you shall recognize them.”  In the 3-D Leader, I observe that Fruits are facts, observable outcomes.

There are 3 types of people who do not want their fruit inspected;

  • People who are wrong, and don’t want to own up to it.
  • People who want to hide what they are doing, so no one can expose it as wrong
  • People who want to keep believing that what they are doing is right, despite what God’s word says.

All 3 types of those people will say, “You can’t judge me or anyone else.”  This is another of the world’s subtle shifts to deny the realities of how Christ tells us in John 5:22 that The Father … has entrusted all judgement to the Son.  This means each and every individual on the planet will stand before Jesus to give an account or our deeds, including every idle word.

Let’s read what Mathew 7: 1-6 says:

1“Judge not, that you be not judged. 2For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. 3Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.

6“Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you.

The word used for the verb, judge in this passage is “krino” which means “to assume the office of a judge to pronounce a sentence of condemnation upon others.

We observe that Jesus consistently convicted people of their sins, not in a way to condemn them forever and pronounce them as irreparably guilty for which they are going to Hell. That is what it means to judge others, and is what the Pharisees did.

Christ’s activity was consistent with what the Bible tells us in John 16:8 which says the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, righteousness and judgement. Thus Christ called people to acknowledge their sin, so they could repent and turn to God.

Luke 19 1- 10 reads:  there was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector and was rich. 5And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.” 6So he hurried and came down and received him joyfully. 7And when they saw it, they all grumbled, “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.” 8And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “…if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold.” 9And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham. 10For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

Helping others see that their behavioral fruit is sinful, and they instead can obtain Christ’s righteousness is what lifts us up in liberty.
