Lyrics:

“Choosing Life” is about a girl who gets pregnant, and everyone around her is trying

to convince her to terminate the pregnancy.  But she chooses life.  The story is told

around the metaphor of a deer hunt.  The song is very affirming of the female protagonist.

The words are below.  May God bless and encourage you as you listen.

Let’s spread the word of this life affirming music with a message!

She stands under a street lamp; there are three of them but she’s alone.

He said the news is a lot to handle; she’s on her own.

Like a deer caught in the spotlight, she’s afraid to move.

The elders circle and menace; they tighten the noose.

Well this is easily dispatched; death solves everything.

Do it before she’s showing; before anyone is knowing.

Drag the carcass from the field;

before the light of dawn; before the name is known.

But when will you miss – what could have been?

The wounded heart escapes the clinic; is this survival of the fittest?

Must the defenseless dies for the mother’s gain?

It goes against primal instinct; if it’s not broke why try to fix it?

It’s foolish to gnaw off a good leg.

The wounded limp through life with the memory made.

Do it before she’s showing; before anyone is knowing.

Drag the carcass from the field;

before the light of dawn; before the name is known.

But when will you miss what could have been?

She gasps, “Jesus please help me; help my baby inside!”

Strength is found in a new direction; she chooses life.

The hunter’s horn grows dim; she’s made up her mind.

The warrior princess squares her shoulders; she’ll defend this life.

She’s won the first big battle in the war to survive.

The grace of God is flowing

She feels young life growing; happiness in knowing.

She’s found the will to survive.

Each day they grow stronger to survive.

Won’t you help them?

Let’s help them to survive!

Each day they grow stronger to survive.

Coda:  She walks on, but she’s not alone.

She needs a little guidance from above.

A helping hand; a little love.
