1) Walk Thru The Word for Today:   (Gen 47: 1319)

(Joseph Obtains Money, Livestock Land & People for Pharaoh)

13Now there was no food in all the land, for the famine was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan languished by reason of the famine. 14And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, in exchange for the grain that they bought. And Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh’s house. 15And when the money was all spent in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, “Give us food. Why should we die before your eyes? For our money is gone.” 16And Joseph answered, “Give your livestock, and I will give you food in exchange for your livestock, if your money is gone.” 17So they brought their livestock to Joseph, and Joseph gave them food in exchange for the horses, the flocks, the herds, and the donkeys. He supplied them with food in exchange for all their livestock that year.

(2) Walk Thru The Word for Today:   Gen 47: 1821

18And when that year was ended, they came to him the following year and said to him, “We will not hide from my lord that our money is all spent.

The herds of livestock are my lord’s. There is nothing left in the sight of my lord but our bodies and our land. 19Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for food, and we with our land will be servants to Pharaoh. And give us seed that we may live and not die, and that the land may not be desolate.”

20So Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh, for all the Egyptians sold their fields, because the famine was severe on them. The land became Pharaoh’s. 21As for the people, he made servants of them from one end of Egypt to the other.

(3) Walk Thru The Word for Today:   Gen 47: 2026

(Pharaoh controls Religion & Obtains a 20% Tax On GDP – Gross Domestic Product

22Only the land of the priests he did not buy, for the priests had a fixed allowance from Pharaoh and lived on the allowance that Pharaoh gave them; therefore they did not sell their land.

23Then Joseph said to the people, “Behold, I have this day bought you and your land for Pharaoh. Now here is seed for you, and you shall sow the land. 24And at the harvests you shall give a fifth to Pharaoh, and four fifths shall be your own, as seed for the field and as food for yourselves and your households, and as food for your little ones.” 25And they said, “You have saved our lives; may it please my lord, we will be servants to Pharaoh.” 26So Joseph made it a statute concerning the land of Egypt, and it stands to this day, that Pharaoh should have the fifth; the land of the priests alone did not become Pharaoh’s.

(4) Walk Thru The Word for Today:   Gen 47: 712

(Israel Is Fruitful In Contrast To The Famine

Gen. 47: 27 27Thus Israel settled in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen. And they gained possessions in it, and were fruitful and multiplied greatly.

Gen. 47:1327 Famine Sets The Stage for The Socialization of Society

(6) Gen. 47: 13-15 (Famine Languishes The Land)   Joseph Consolidates (& Controls) The Country Under Pharaoh/Government

13Now there was no food in all the land, for the famine was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan languished (became exhausted, fainted, wasted away) by reason of the famine.

Scarcity (whether by natural causes or human manipulation) provides the opportunity for Government to consolidate & control …

Acts 7:11— Then famine and great suffering swept across Egypt and Canaan, and our fathers could not find food.

(7) 1) “Outcomes of Government Controlling Money”

14And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, in exchange for the grain that they bought. And Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh’s house. 15And when the money was all spent in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, “Give us food. Why should we die before your eyes? For our money is gone.”

1) Government control of Money/finances —  (Gen 47: 13-14)   means …

  1. resources are consolidated into one central administration, where it is easy to control, takeover, usurp.
  2. people are not free to purchase according to their individual preferences. This destroys the free market with devastating ripple effects as multiple layers of business services also go under. (I worked at a factory in college. When that factories business was legislated to be made oversees, restaurants, coffee shops, printing shops went out of business soon after those jobs left.
  3. the government through the control and distribution of resources can pick & choose marketplace winners & Losers.  Winners get government contracts and special rules written for their success.  Losers get audited and can’t make the grade.
  4. Crony capitalism increases as the government provides favorable contracts for its friends while making legislation that limits makes it more difficult for competitors to survive in the marketplace. (Beware of government-business partnerships, which is backdoor Fascism – the government control of what will appear to be the “private sector” but which really is government sponsored cronyism that has the unfair advantage of being financed with huge public debt, which government over burdens on the “we the people” while enriching its friends who kick back political donations to them.)

(8) 2) “Outcomes of Gov’t Controlling GDP”

Gen 47: 16-17 16And Joseph answered, “Give your livestock, and I will give you food in exchange for your livestock, if your money is gone.” 17So they brought their livestock to Joseph, and Joseph gave them food in exchange for the horses, the flocks, the herds, and the donkeys. He supplied them with food in exchange for all their livestock that year.

  1. who has access to various types of food
  2. what additives are approved and which are rejected
  3. when products are allowed/approved into the marketplace
  4. where distribution channels area approved and rejected, so certain competitors are pushed out of business

(9) 3) “Outcomes of Government Controlling Property & People, (Gen 47: 13-18)

” Gen 47:19 19Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for food, and we with our land will be servants to Pharaoh. And give us seed that we may live and not die, and that the land may not be desolate.”

3) Government control of Property & people, (Gen 47: 13-18) means by relocating/transplanting people they …

  1. realize Pharaoh’s sovereign power over them
  2. are thankful for the kindness shown them, and happy to receive the promise of food and care.
  3. in time forget their previous titles to their lands,
  4. are easier reconciled to their new condition of servitude
  5. Pharaoh became the sole proprietor, and the people his tenants, who’d managed their land for his use.

Note: Some scholars believe Gen 47: 20-21 indicates Joseph moved the people into cities. 20So Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh, for all the Egyptians sold their fields, because the famine was severe on them. The land became Pharaoh’s. 21As for the people, he made servants of them from one end of Egypt to the other.

(10) 4) “Outcomes of Government Controlling Religion”

4) Government control of Religion — (Gen 47: 22) means…

Gen. 47: 22 Only the land of the priests he did not buy, for the priests had a fixed allowance from Pharaoh and lived on the allowance that Pharaoh gave them; therefore they did not sell their land.

EW Note: The priests had a “fixed allowance,” meaning they were not meant to become richer or poorer, so they were meant to have enough to be content, but not enough to be pro-active and entrepreneurial on their own.  They were in a perpetual state of “contented dependency.”

  1. the religious leaders were in a perpetual state of “contented dependency.”
  2. government controls what people trust & rely upon most.
  3. the people only learn and know what religious leaders tell them. And the religious leaders are paid by government, and who cooperate in partnership with the government — and who act as agents of the government to direct people to what the government wants them to focus on, and teaches them to ignore what the government does not want them paying attention to.
  4. people believe they are serving God but only are doing so in a way that maintains Government’s control and position over them.

Tax Freedom Day® is the day when the nation as a whole has earned enough money to pay its total tax bill for the year. Tax Freedom Day takes all federal, state, and local taxes and divides them by the nation’s income. In 2018, Americans will pay $3.39 trillion in federal taxes and $1.80 trillion in state and local taxes, for a total tax bill of $5.19 trillion, or 30 percent of national income.

  1. this 20% flat tax seems a lot more reasonable than what we face today, where …
  2. in 2015 USA’s average tax burden was 31% and our tax freedom day was

(12) The Stage Is Set for Fulfillment of the Gen. 15: 12-16 Prophecy  As Seen In Ex 1: 8-12 (ESV)

Gen. 15: 12-16 12As the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell on Abram. And behold, dreadful and great darkness fell upon him. 13Then the LORD said to Abram, “Know for certain that your offspring will be sojourners in a land that is not theirs and will be servants there, and they will be afflicted for four hundred years. 14But I will bring judgment on the nation that they serve, and afterward they shall come out with great possessions. 15As for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried in a good old age. 16And they shall come back here in the fourth generation, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.”

Exodus 1: 8-12 8Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. 9And he said to his people, “Behold, the people of Israel are too many and too mighty for us. 10Come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and, if war breaks out, they join our enemies and fight against us and escape from the land.” 11Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with heavy burdens. They built for Pharaoh store cities, Pithom and Raamses. 12But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and the more they spread abroad. And the Egyptians were in dread of the people of Israel.

(13) Israel Is Our Example of How God Supports His People To Live Out The 23rd Psalm

A Psalm of David.

1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2He makes me lie down in green pastures.

He leads me beside still waters.

3He restores my soul.

He leads me in paths of righteousness

For his name’s sake.

4Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil;

my cup overflows.  6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,

and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

(15) John Wycliffe The Father of Biblically Based Freedom

John Wycliffe (also Wyclif, Wycliff, or Wickliffe) (c. 1320 – 31 December 1384) was an English theologian and early proponent of reform in the Roman Catholic Church during the 14th century. He made an English translation of the Bible in one complete edition and is considered a precursor of the Protestant Reformation (thus becoming known as “The Morning Star of the Reformation”).

Bible translator John Wycliffe understood the significance of the values the Bible provides for human freedom and he wrote in the forward of his 1382 Wycliffe Bible that “This Bible is for the Government of the People, by the People, and for the People.”

What he was saying was not that The Bible was a way to govern the people aka Sharia but rather it was for the People to use and apply as a guide to achieving good governance. Wycliffe meant that the principles of The Bible are to be applied to civics.

In the Gettysburg Address, Lincoln was quoting John Wycliffe. In my early days of schooling in America, we read that Lincoln learned to read from the 1382 Wycliffe Bible.  It’s a shame that today’s education system is designed to misrepresent these facts to young people. But there still is hope, if we return to the source of America’s uniqueness.  I believe the hope for America is for us to get reconnect with what Wycliffe knew.

(16) We Need God to help us avoid E-G-O

To Restore America, we need to let go of EGO and stop trying to be

  1. a) good, b) conservative, c) moral without God …

.(17) Let’s Pray that God ReAwakens, ReInvigorates & ReEstablishes Us in Our Calls In Christ!

Let’s Pray:

God have mercy on us and our beloved USA!

Give us the grace for us to allow You to work in us and make us the type of people You can use for Your glory!

Let us bless and serve You in ways that enable You to bless our nation!    [email-download-link namefield=”YES” id=”294″]
