(1) Walk Thru The Word: Romans 2: 1-7 (ESV)
“God’s Judgement Falls On Those Who Practice Presumption”
1Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. 2We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. 3Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God? 4Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? 5But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.
6He will render to each one according to his works: 7to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life;
(2) Walk Thru The Word: Romans 2: 8-16 (ESV) “Self-Seekers Disobey But God-Seekers Are “Doers of The Law”
8but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. 9There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, 10but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. 10For God shows no partiality.
12For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. 13For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified. 14For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. 15They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them 16on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus.
(3) Walk Thru The Word: Romans 2: 17-24 (ESV)
“The Circumcised of Heart Live Out The Law in Grace”
17But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast in God 18and know his will and approve what is excellent, because you are instructed from the law; 19and if you are sure that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, 20an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of children, having in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth— 21you then who teach others, do you not teach yourself? While you preach against stealing, do you steal? 22You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? 23You who boast in the law dishonor God by breaking the law. 24For, as it is written, “The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”
(4) Walk Thru The Word: Romans 2: 25-29 (ESV)
“Disciples Have Circumcised Hearts”
25For circumcision indeed is of value if you obey the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision. 26So, if a man who is uncircumcised keeps the precepts of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision? 27Then he who is physically uncircumcised but keeps the law will condemn you who have the written coded and circumcision but break the law. 28For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. 29But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God.

(7) God Judges those who think we can judge
God Judges Consistently With the Truth He Reveals in Scripture
Rom 2: 1 –
1Therefore you have no excuse (without grounds of defense), O man, every one of you who judges (I decide, I think (it) good, but to be wrong in adjudication to doom to punishment prematurely— as only God knows the heart Jer. 17:9-10). For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things.
God does not want us to judge (think we can decide and adjudicate and doom to punishment prematurely— as only God knows the heart Jer. 17:9-10, and the future— as to whether or not the person will repent, receive Christ and ) because we are supposed to be evangelists who fulfill His Great Commission.
God judges those who judge (or who think we can judge)
Satan is the accuser, not us. We can’t put people in a box, and say that is the way they’ve been and always will be. We must leave room for god’s grace to work
2We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. 3Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God? 4Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?
John 7:24 JUDGE not according to the appearance.
Ecclesiastes 3:17 God shall judge the righteous and the wicked.
1 Corinthians 2:15. He that is spiritual, judgeth all things.
The Great Commission
Matt 28: 16-20
16Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them.
17And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
(8) There are Six Principles of God’s judgement
Everyone Expects It & Is Without Excuse Rom 2: 1: 16
God has hard wired us to expect we’ll face judgement. We can try to rationalize it away but 6 Principles Of Judgement
- Rom 2: 2-3 Judgement is universal, and includes everyone. (Rom 3:10, Rom 3:23, Is. 53: 6) Rom 2: 7 involves eternal consequences, whereby some get life others wrath and fury. 7to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; 8but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury.
- God’s judgement is rooted in His objective reality. Thus everyone is without EXCUSE before God. Rom 3:23 All have sinned and fall short. We all are hard wired to expect judgement and we either a) dread, b) dent or try to c). Defy it and live in defiance of the inevitable No one ESCAPES God’s judgement—the One with whom we have to do. Conviction trust motivate repentance is an act of God’s kindness.
- Political correctness is an attempt to redefine sin. It calls good evil and evil good.
- Rom 2: 9-15 God’s law is written on each of our hearts.
- God gave the Law specifically to Israel but wrote it on everyone’s heart. Therefore …
- Vs 11 God’s no respecter of person’s. Our membership in what we think is the right church, nor circumcision, nor knowing the law makes a difference with Him. We must come to Christ and be born again per John 3:3.
- Duet 10:17 For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial
- and takes no bribe. You can’t pay a church to pay for your dead relatives. Heb. 9:27 And … it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment. He is judged for his own deeds, not what is living relatives too. Remember the parable of Lazarus in Abraham’s bosom. The Lord will not allow dead saints to advocate on behalf of the dead and neither for the living.
- God’s judgements are consistent with the truth He reveals in Scripture and with the reality of what we’ve done and are like. Therefore …
- Rom 2: 1 We are without / There will be no acceptable excuse (indefensible, inexcusable without grounds for defense) before God.
- Rom 2: 6-8 6God will render to each one according to his deeds/works, () :Our sinful deeds tend to be of these types:
- sins of Idolatry = sins against God. Idol worship tends to fall in the categories of people / ancestor worship, animal worship, false deity worship. This sin insults God as A Good Creator, Who made a sustainable planet, evidenced by how He tells us in Genesis to be fruitful and multiply. xxx
- sins of Morality = sins against others, all of which violate the moral code of the 10 Commandments and Sermon on The Mount, Beatitudes.
- Sensual sins = sins against self. 1 Cor 6:18 sex sin is against our own bodies.
God Judges According To Each of Our Deeds
Jeremiah 32:19 great are your purposes and mighty are your deeds, whose eyes are open to all the ways of the children of man, rewarding each one according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds.
Hosea 12:2 The LORD has a charge to bring against Judah; he will…
The LORD has a charge to bring against Judah; he will punish Jacob according to his ways and repay him according to his deeds. …
Matthew 16:27 “For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and WILL THEN REPAY EVERY MAN ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS. …
2 Timothy 4:14 Alexander the coppersmith did me great harm; the Lord will repay him according to his deeds. …
Ezekiel 7:3 I will judge thee according to thy ways.
Jeremiah 17:10 “I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” …
Isaiah 59:18 So He will repay according to their deeds: fury to His enemies, retribution to His foes, and He will repay the coastlands. …
Job 34:11 He repays everyone for what they have done;
2 Samuel 3:39 …May the LORD repay the evildoer according to his evil deeds!” … …
Proverbs 24:12 Will he not repay each person according to his deeds?
Revelation 20:13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each one was judged according to his deeds. …
- Rom 2: 16 God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus.
- Rom 2: 5 The impending judgement is due to our hard and unrepentant hearts that cause stubbornness and the “failure to change our minds to see ;things )
- Christ paid for our sins, so our judgement is for reward not punitive punishment.
(9) Self-Seekers Presume & Disobey
To Presume Against God Means to feel entitled To Treat God As Our Errand Boy Rather Than As Our Sovereign Lord!
Self-Seekers Presume & Disobey
Rom 2:3-4 3Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God? 4Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?
To presume against or disregard God is
- to feel entitled to suppose that “My will is god’s “ It assumes that “What I want is what God wants.” It is to exercise “My will for God, which is very different from submitting to God’s Will.”
- to treat God as our personal “grace–based” dispensing machine!”
It is to esteem lightly and insult God’s commands and character, by thinking down on or little of His ways, seeing them as insignificant and to pay them no regard. It is to scorn and insult God” (Souter). NW 1828 = To take or supposed to be true or entitled to belief, without examination or positive proof.
Those who do this feel grace entitles them get from God what they want, not realizing God’s riches (abundance, materially or spiritually) of his kindness (goodness, uprightness, gentleness.) and forbearance and patience, are meant to lead us to repentance — which is a change of mind and inner man that begins the process of a) recognizing sin, b) being regretful for it and c) being motivated by a desire to reverse / repay its effects by better behavior. Repentance is abhorring our errors and misdeeds, and which motivates determination to enter upon a better course of life.)[bctt tweet=”I believe today the church needs to repent of becoming the tale that is wagged by what has been the government led, politically correct dog. These sins presume against God in 3 areas:” username=”LibertyCF3″]
I believe today the church needs to repent of becoming the tale that is wagged by what has been the government led, politically correct dog. These sins presume against God in 3 areas:
- They insult His Role as a Good Creator, who made a sustainable planet. God Is Perniciously Intolerant About Those who Presume on his Role as Creator.
- Fails to Acknowledge that God is the Sacred Author of life and that He made us male and female, and Who will hold us accountable for the way we treat His life, especially
- Acknowledging Genesis 1:1 that “In the Beginning there was God — is Supremely Necessary for the Spiritual Health of Individuals and Societies.
- Almost all institutional-societal sins stem from a failure to acknowledge Gen 1:1.
- Through the Prosperity Gospel Proclaims God as an Errand Boy Who satisfies our wandering desires.
(10) Conscience Either Cooperates with God or Condemns Us
14For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature (inherent constitution) do what the law (divine commands to influence and impel action) requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. 15They show that the work (labor, employment, purpose) of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience (our God-given capacity to know right from wrong, as free moral agent’s created in the image of God, that prompts us persisting notions to do what’s right and shun what’s wrong, as God defines them through His commandments) also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them 16on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus.
1 Tim 4:2 Conscience can be seared = branded as with a hot iron that cauterizes nerve endings, rending it unfeeling and an unreliable guide to judge both intellectual and behavioral activities.
By contrast Rom 12: 1-2 tells us to “by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal (a change that refreshes and renews achieved by God’s power) of your mind, that by testing you may discern what the will of God is, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
(11) God-Seekers Are Circumcised Doers of the Word” Rom 2: 25 – 29
God Circumcises The Heart to Renew our religion, righteousness & Reasoning
Salvation is by GRACE. We cannot be redeemed by man-made human efforts. Neither by our religion, Self-righteousness, & Human Reasoning
Rom 2: 25 – 29 25For circumcision indeed is of value if you obey the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision. 26So, if a man who is uncircumcised keeps the precepts of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision? 27Then he who is physically uncircumcised, but keeps the law will condemn you who have the written coded and circumcision but break the law. 28For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. 29But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God.
Rom 2: 25–29 Circumcision is an outward sign that one is serious about obeying/participating in God’s covenant, and provides no merit for our morality. Baptism is similar in this regard.
Neither religion (man’s attempt to find, appeal and be right with God, not membership in a church. (“Sitting in church doesn’t make one right with God no more than does sitting in your garage make you a car.”) …
nor morality/righteousness/good works (Webster’s 1828 — The system of duties of men in their social character, and gathered from the writings of ancient sages, and contemporary wannabe’s including those who purvey the social gospel, feeding the poor and working for certain political causes …
nor Reasoning thinking we can rationalize our way into right standing with God (which are the roots of false religion and false morality that is independent of God’s Commands, and is a by-product of those who think they are wise (intellectually sophisticated), but who’ve become fools) can provide the means of eternal redemption, as they all fall very short of satisfying God’s wrath against sin. And, actually can motivate us to do evil in the name of what we are deceived into believing is good.
(12) “The Circumcised of Heart Live Out The Law in Grace”
Salvation is not by human effort but by the work of grace (God’s Riches At Christ Expense) in our lives. Titus 3:5 & Eph 2: 8-9
Titus 3:5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy
Eph 2: 8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Obedience = a display of belief) which = Faithfulness
Disobedience = a display of unbelief) = Faithlessness
Christ paid for our sins, by receiving God’s punishment for it, so our salvation issue is settled law. Our “judgement” will determine our rewards and crowns not our salvation.
(14) Let’s Pray that God ReAwakens, ReInvigorates & ReEstablishes Us in Our Calls In Christ!
Let’s Pray:
God we trust Your will in our lives, to lovingly circumcise our hearts and conform us to Your image, as You work in us to make us the kind of people whom You will use for Your glory! [email-download-link namefield=”YES” id=”308″]
