Do we know what time it is in the USA? In 1 Chronicles 12:32 we read that when God was rallying Israel to solidify the kingdom under King David, that the smallest group were “the men of Issachar, The men of Issachar, were those “who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.” 1 Chronicles 12: 23-37 tells us there only were 200 chiefs of Issachar, as compared to those who came from other tribes and numbered from 3,700 – 120,000 each. Let me repeat that:
There only were 200 men of Issachar “who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do” – as compared to each of the other tribes, who sent anywhere from 3,700 – 120,000 men apiece. There were 200 men who understood the times, and actually knew what was going on and what Israel should do about them, as compared to hundreds of thousands of others.
Yesterday, we discussed how Capitalism is expressed through The Parable of the Talents. The Bible says the two profitable servants “traded” and “made” to earn the additional talents they are commended for achieving. The terms “traded and made” are Capitalist terms. Socialist-Communist terms are “get and give” – meaning people get what the government gives – and they have no opportunity to trade and make more.
Do we know that at this time in America, politicians often are trying to sell us a Socialist-Communist view of the world and our nation, and are trying to overshadow how we are to look to God to discover the talents He gives us, and get direction from Him regarding how we are to use them to trade and make a profit?
Do we understand the time in America today is one where the education system from preschool to college is betraying God’s will for our kids and is teaching them the anti-God-Socialist-Communist mindset and expectation to only “get what the government allows and gives” – leaving no opportunity for them to develop their talents God’s way, and to trade them God’s way to make more, so they can employ more people who also will help them increase profits – God’s way.
As a church do we not see this is what is at the root of the drumbeat of the anti-profit, and pro non-profit message that is being drummed into our society 24-7 from government propaganda machines, which is what the public education system has become?
It is important for us to realize which messages in our society are coming from a Biblical perspective, and which ones are not, because what we don’t know will hurt us. Ignorance of the truth is not bliss. Truth is essential because Jesus says in John 8:32 “Truth sets us free.” In contrast we need to understand that Satan uses lies to enslave us.
Colossians 2:8 says “Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world.” (NLT) What we see and know effects how we pray, and how we pray determines whether or not we get lifted up in God’s liberty or enslaved by Satan’s and the world’s lies.
