Are you a disciple? Have you accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior into your life? Can you honestly say what Galatians 2:20 says: “it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.”
Jesus said in Matthew 28:18-20 “All authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and MAKE disciples of ALL nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and TEACHING them to obey everything I have COMMANDED you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
So, are you a disciple? Attending church doesn’t make you a disciple. Listening to sermons doesn’t make you a disciple. Large church memberships doesn’t make you a discipled church. Requirements to be a disciple of Christ demands obedience to Him, no matter what the consequences are.
Read Luke 14: 25-34. These are strong words by Jesus; particularly verse 26 that says “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers & sister, yes, even his own life cannot be my disciple.” Our obedience to Christ must take priority over what our loved ones may expect or desire. Verse 33 says “In the same way any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.” Everything we have belongs to God. A disciple is detached from the things of the world to become fully attached to Christ.
The mission of the church as stated in Luke 19:10 is “to seek and to save that which is lost.” A disciple must have the ability for availability in whatever God calls them to do. A disciple may have to endure hardship, suffering, and persecution. We are living in an era where true discipleship is absolutely needed and absolutely necessary.
Are you that true disciple that is a born again Christian? Our families need you. Our churches need you. Our country needs you. God commands His followers to be His disciples. The rewards are worth every sacrifice. We have the strength of the Holy Spirit within us! Philippians 4:13 says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” And….despite the sufferings and hardships, Philippians 1:21 says “To live is Christ, to die is gain.”[bctt tweet=”Are you a disciple? Church, listen up!! You see the country, the culture, the world collapsing around us. This is our time to shine the light of Christ. Jesus said in Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.” In Verse 16 Jesus said ….”Let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and PRAISE YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN.”
Won’t you join us at Liberty Christian Fellowship & be motivated to be that disciple, to be that light that Jesus commands us to be? And all for HIS glory!!
