Radio programming is occasionally interrupted to test the emergency broadcasting system. We have no control over it and it happens suddenly & unexpectedly. If it was a true emergency, warnings & instructions would follow.
The world we live in has become increasingly hollow and deceptive. We live in a postmodern culture where there is no truth. Morals have no value. False teachings are rampant in schools & universities. As Christians, we need to be alert and stay attuned of these rapid changes that are affecting everyone especially our children. We don’t have an emergency broadcasting system to alert us of the spiraling decent that is bringing our children and society to Hell. But we have God’s Holy Word, the Bible.
Colossians 2:8 says “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.” Note the 2 words: DECEPTIVE PHILOSOPHY! Our culture has been taken captive to this philosophical thinking. Two examples of the many deceptions include Naturalism. Defined as true knowledge that only comes from scientific study. Relativism says there are no absolutes. Think of the eternal consequences of those duped into this type of thinking. This all leads to depression, despondency, despair and loneliness and yes, eternal Hell.
God is missing from this type of thought. There is a battle between truth and the false religions of this age. What is your personal world view? Is it God’s truth claims that you have embraced deeply? Do these truths reflect what is really real in the Bible? Do you truly understand that these Biblical truths drive what you think, how you act and what you feel? Christians are not exempt from falling in the trap of buying into the lies of the world. You end up conforming to the world. Romans 12:2 says “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
We live in the most anti-intellectual period in the church. Are you seeking to be transformed? Think of the caterpillar in the cocoon struggling to escape that confinement to become that freed butterfly….metamorphis….the process of transformation from an immature form to an adult form in two distinct stages. What a beautiful picture of how God transforms our hearts.
