It’s that time of year when we frequently hear about “The Wonders of Christmas”. It has different meanings to different people: I think of Wonderful Counselor in Isaiah 9:6. Some think of a winter wonderland, or wondering eyes spotting a sleigh & reindeer. There’s a certain excitement in one’s heart in anticipation of the wonders of Christmas. To some, when the celebration is over, there’s a feeling of emptiness. Or to others, a feeling of relief that it is over.
Do you ever wonder? I wondered about life after death after my dad & sister died in close proximity to each other. I didn’t know much at all about life after death. I wondered if my relatives were in Heaven. I wasn’t saved then. I never read the Bible then. But God orchestrated my years of wondering (when) a former co-worker asked me one day “If you died today, do you know for sure if you’d go to Heaven?” I replied “I hope so.” He said “You can know so.” I was aghast! “You can know so????” He read me passages from the Book of Romans, uniquely nick-named “The Roman Road” which include Romans 3:10, (Romans) 3:23, (Romans) 5:12, (Romans) 6:23, (Romans) 10:17, (Romans) 10:9-13, and ending in John 5:24 when Jesus says “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word & believes Him who sent me has eternal life & will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.”
What a wonderful opportunity for you dear listener to celebrate the Heart of Christmas right now….Jesus Christ. If you’re not sure if you are saved, if you are wondering, then you can know right now. Admit you’re a sinner. Confess that Jesus is Lord. Believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead. Wonder no more…Enjoy these truths that tell of the God of WONDER. Psalm 77:14 says “The God who does WONDERS; you have declared your strength among the peoples.” Daniel 4:3 says “How great are His signs, and how mighty His WONDERS!” Daniel 6:27 says “He delivers and rescues, and He works signs & WONDERS in Heaven & on earth.
JESUS is the Wonder of Christmas. God in human flesh. All life’s answers are in God’s Holy Word. Buy a Bible for your family this Christmas. Read it together. Pray before you read it and ask God to give you wisdom so you can apply it to your everyday life. Ask God to reveal to you what He wants you to know.
