Proverbs 22:7, (NAS) reads The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower becomes the lender’s slave. In the KJV it says: and the borrower is servant to the lender.
This has profound civic and political implications, considering that governments at all levels are operating in debt that is so great and extreme that it actually is obscene, which means it is grotesque and completely unacceptable by standards of morality!
Are we concerned about what the excessive government spending and debt is doing to us in God’s eyes and what its implications are for our future generations?
The irresponsible people who are pushing government spending tell us their policies are designed to help us. But God’s Word tells us that who really is benefiting from this incredible debt, are those who are making us slaves because of it. This means that those from whom the money is coming — the richest people in the world, the 1% of the 1%, to whom the governments owe much money are getting the benefit of enslaving us in exchange for the debt. That is what the word of God teaches. Now based on that Biblical premise if we do some analysis we can see what is going on.
One way we are big enslaved is through Crony Capitalism. Here’s how the system works. The people who loan the government money get influence in exchange for doing so. They use their influence – which is another word for the favors our politicians owe to them – to put their friends, agents and family members into business by procuring government favors – called tax breaks. This system is a form of institutionalized theft that violates 10 Commandment 8, which says “Thou shall not steal.”
Remember stealing rips both the perpetrator or their and the victim our of God’s plan for both their material blessings. Crony Capitalism steals in at least 3 ways:
- The tax break a business gets comes at the expense of the other tax payors spread throughout a community and our entire society.
- The Parable of the Talents teaches capitalism – as the 2 servants Jesus commends use the capitalist activities of trading and making to increase their portions. Crony Capitalism impedes those fair activities of hard working individuals by giving unfair advantages to those who obtain the power of government by getting special favors. Instead of consumers making choices in the free market to determine which products and services get selected by the community, companies that may have products of inferior quality are given unfair advantage.
- Crony Capitalism robs the 99 of the Lord’s protection in favor of supporting the one who gets the big government favor. This is the opposite of how God protects the 99 while He also looks to help the lost one. Should be looking to God to help them figure out what to do with the talents He gives them.
We may not see the chains that make us slaves of the people who continually loan governments money. Yet More and more people do not realize how they are losing opportunity to obtain and use free market donations and resources, they just know that the only way to proceed is to try to obtain grants and other favors from the government, which means they only can do business the government’s way or as proscribed by the government. By contrast, it is true free market activity that lifts us up in liberty.
