Genesis 1: 26-31 says, 26Then God said, “Let us make manh in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 …, in the image of God he created him; male and female. 28And God blessed them. And … said, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29“Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed … and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food….31And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.
In Gen 2: 5-8 and 15, The Bible also says, 5… no bush of the fielda was yet in the landb and no small plant of the field had yet sprung up—for the LORD God had not caused it to rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground, 7then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. 8And the LORD God planted a garden in Eden … and there he put the man … to work it and keep it.
The concept of dominion is that God has given people to be the stewards of the earth to administer husbandry over the earth to tame it and make it productive, by bringing it into useful, orderly harmony. Otherwise, everything will get overgrown and weed infested – which especially is true since The Fall of Man into Sin took place in the Garden of Eden. God gave man the duty to care for, cultivate and breed crops and animals. It is God’s ordained, human management of the natural resources God provides that makes life best for both nature and mankind.
When you enjoy walking in a park or a well-cultivated garden with neatly mowed grass and neatly placed flowers, and hedges artistically trimmed, you are witnessing the beautiful results of man exercising the dominion God gave Him over the planet.
Man-Made-Climate-Change is a lie against the Creative Goodness of God, and His good plan for man to cultivate the earth. Contrary to people being bad for animals and the environment, man’s dominion actually aids them. The world’s population has doubled since 1950 and because people invent new growing and cultivation techniques, today we only use 20% of the land we used in 1950. And we are feeding twice the number of people! Animals hit the jackpot when people care for them. Instead of wolves, big cats, bears and birds of prey chomping on them and strangling them in slow agonizingly painful deaths, humans harvest them in quick, less painful ways. When an animal owned by a human gets sick, we take it to an expensive veterinarian. Sick animals in the wild become easy prey for the slow painful death by the clawing and gnawing of predators. God’s order of man having dominion is what’s best for the good creation He provides.
The false religion of environmental worship says the dominion God gave man is bad. Its false narrative that God’s Creation does not multiply and replenish itself seeks to enslave us by denying us access to all God provides. When we understand the role God gave us humans over creation, we walk in the blessed state of dominion that benefits creation and lifts us up in liberty.
