Walk Thru The Word: Ephesians 4: 1-6 (ESV) “Walking worthily of the Spiritual Wealth God Supplies”
1I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, 2with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, 3eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

2) Eph 2: 1-10 Receiving The Process Makes Us alive together with Christ as god’s Workmanship
3) Eph 3: 1-10 Yielding To God Achieves His Purpose To Strengthen Us To Be Filled with Fulness Of God
4) Eph Chapters 4 — 6 Explains Our Calling, Our Conduct, Our Confession & the Conflict committed believers face
5) Ephesians Reflects Joshua – as Israel Was Positioned to Inherit God’s Blessings But Had to enter into Battle to Achieve it
6) Occupying Requires Determining Who To Unify with & How: The Basis for Determining Unity
Eph 4: 1Walking Worthily Walking Worthily to believe, receive & achieve means …
Walking Worthily means …
1) 1st we walk to where we BELIEVE & God POSITIONS us In Christ with every spiritual blessing Eph 1: 3-8
2) 2nd we walk to where we RECEIVE God’s PROCESS and grow spiritually
3) 3rd we walk yielded to God Who ACHIEVES His Will and His plans through us.
• In Ephesians 5: 1-2 The Holy Spirit works in us, so we imitate God, as children who know our Father loves us, as He makes us a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
• In Eph 5: 3-18 – we are to 15walk carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16making the best use of the time. Ves 11 says, 11Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. 17Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18And do not get drunk… but be filled with the Spirit, Note: Satan works through drunkenness; God’s Spirit works through sobriety. The Bible says be sober minded (1 Pet 4:7, Titus 2: 2-6, 1 Tim 3:2,
• 1 Pet 4:7 only the sober minded can pray appropriately: “So be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of prayer.”
• Tit 2:2 older men should be temperate, sensible, sober minded, sound in faith, in love, and in patience
• Titus 2: 4-5 he young women to be affectionate to their husbands and to their children, to be sober-minded,
• Titus 2:6 younger men are urged/exhorted to be self-controlled/ sober-minded (KJV).
• 1Tim 3:2 Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded,
• Eph 5:22-33 tells us how to live as husbands and wives.
• Eph 6: 1-4 tells us how to walk right as children, and fathers
• Eph 6: 5-9 tells us how to walk as bondservants and masters or as employees and employers
• Eph 6: 10-18 tells us how to achieve God’s will by standing against the schemes of the devil. 12For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
• James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
• 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
• Ephesians 4:27 and give no opportunity to the devil.
• Jude 1:3 “… contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. (This means we are to “struggle upon, appropriately”, i.e. with skill and commitment in opposing whatever is not of faith (God’s persuasion).
Eph 1: 3-8 Belief Activates God To Position Us In Christ with every spiritual blessing
3God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every SPIRITUAL blessing in the heavenly places — where we eternally are POSITIONED to be beneficiaries in Christ
By virtue of being positioned our Spiritual Blessings include
• 4He CHOSE us to be in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him (= imputed/counted/credited righteousness, Rom 4:24).
• In love 5he PREDESTINED us for adoption through Christ,
• 7He REDEEMED us by the riches of his grace, through Christ’s blood, that purchased forgiveness of our trespasses, according to 8which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight
Eph 2: 1-10 Receiving The Process Makes Us alive together with Christ as gods Workmanship
1And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind 4Butc God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
8For by grace you have been saved through faith…
• 1-2 we were disobedient and DEAD in sins 2in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air.
• 3we lived in the PASSIONS of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and were destined for God’s wrath,
• 8God raised us up and seated us in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
• 10For we are his WORKMANSHIP, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
• 18For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. 19So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and MEMBERS of the household of God,
Eph 3: 1-10 Yielding To God Achieves His Purpose To Strengthen Us To Be Filled with Fulness Of God
16-19God STRENGTHENS us with power through his Spirit, in our inner being, according to the riches of his glory 17so that CHRIST may dwell in your hearts through faith to root and ground us in LOVE, 18so we may have strength to comprehend with all the saints God in terms of breadth, length, height and depth, 19and to KNOW the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be FILLED with all the fullness of God.
20Now to him who is ABLE to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Chuck Missler: Ephesians Parallels or Reflects Joshua
Joshua …
• Joshua led the Israelites over the Jordan, which is a symbol of Christ’s death, burial and resurrection
• When you enter the water it’s a symbol of DEATH
• when you go further and deeper into your crossing, it’s a symbol that we are BURIED
• and when you emerge on the other side, it’s a symbol that we are RESURRECTED
• Though they were promised a possession, they had to enter in and appropriate it.
• Acquiring & occupying what God gave, required them to enter into battle, conflict
• Israel fulfilled its call through conflict. The Promise Land is not symbolic of Heaven,
a) because there is conflict there,
b) Satan is not bound there.
c) Satan is to be displaced, but he’s active there. Satan will not be active in Heaven.
Eph 4: 1 Paul As a Captive of Christ Walked in manner Worthy of The Calling
[bctt tweet=”Eph 4: 2 To fulfill Christ Ministry As Imperfect People Ministering and Serving with Imperfect People, requires bearing with one another in love, which Requires humility and gentleness, with patience.” username=”LibertyCF3″]
Once we occupy as God wants us to, we must maintain our positional process of staying yielded to God.
Paul had phenomenal ministry, overcoming persecution, seeing numerous people come to Christ and grow and starting churches. Yet he never lost is posture as a prisoner of Christ!
1I therefore, a prisoner (one who is bound and seated in SUBJECTION) for the Lord, urge you to WALK (conduct our lives to complete our circuit) in a manner worthy (WORTHY MANNER suitable because recognized as fitting (having worth that “matches” actual value) of the CALLING (all that God assigns through faith = “His in birthed persuasion God inviting all people to receive His gift of salvation – with all His blessings that go with it (Ro 11:29; Eph 4:4; 2 Pet 1:10)) to which you have been called (summoned, invited),
Though the Roman government arrested Paul at the request of the Politically Appointed Religious Establishment (PARE), he defined himself as one who is Seated as a prisoner of Christ
2Pe. 1:10 Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall,
Regarding Making our Calling and Election Sure:
1) Eager = (to give diligence to be fervent about pursuing hasten, zealous), commitment to accomplish all that God assigns through faith = “His in birthed persuasion”)
• Those who are obedient and growing in Christ have 1) assurance of salvation; 2) awareness of their calling; are ardently animated about their faith (a contagious animation)
Eph 4: 2 To fulfill Christ Ministry As Imperfect People Ministering and Serving with Imperfect People, requires bearing with one another in love, which Requires humility and gentleness, with patience.
God develops within us the capacity for BEARING (enduring with patience) with each other by growing us in 3 fruitful areas: bearing with one another in love requires humility and gentleness, with patience,
HUMILITY = “having a deep sense of one’s (moral) littleness, produced by comparing ourselves to the Lord — rather than to others). This brings behavior into alignment with this inner revelation to keep one from being self-exalting (self-determining, self-inflated). For the believer, 5012 /tapeinophrosýnē (“humility”) means living in complete dependence on the Lord, i.e. with no reliance on self (the flesh).
GENTLENESS = mildness, meekness = strength under control; Gentleness is a product of the Lord’s inspiration and finishes by His direction and empowerment. It is a divinely balanced virtue that can only operate through faith (cf. 1 Tim 6:11; 2 Tim 2:22-25).
PATIENCE = forbearance, longsuffering; waiting sufficient time before expressing anger. This avoids the premature use of force (retribution) that rises out of improper anger (a personal reaction).
People with the 3 virtues of humility, gentleness and patience tend to be insult proof. They are not easily offended, nor insulted! Bearing with one another in love, which Requires humility and gentleness, with patience.

(10) Ephesians 4: 3, 13, Determining The Basis for Unity & “Faithful, Friendly, Flexible Fellowship”
While we can associate with anyone at work, at play, and when engaging in hobbies, events etc… we only can have intimate fellowship with those who are of precious like-minded faith.
We have to agree upon certain Essential Biblical Truths on SALVATION and COMMANDS are Immutable Absolutes, Irrefutable Doctrines of Biblical Certainty that provide Necessities & Essentials for all believers, about which there can be no COMPROMISE. These include …
• Doctrinal issues that pertain to salvation, including: The Finished Work of Christ, discipleship and holiness (10 Commandments, Sermon on The Mount,)
• Doctrinal issues that are evidence of salvation, such as living out the provisions of the sermon on the Mount, which is built off the commands the God gives us throughout the totality of Scripture. Not worshipping idols.
CONVICTIONS should be formed from Biblical Evidence but about which there may be lacking Biblical Certainty. Some of us are convicted about certain gifts of the Spirit. Others are convicted about a particular Bible translation, whereas others like to compare multiple translations. Others feel it’s a choice to compare, as no one says you have to.
CHOICES should be informed by conscience, which is how our convictions come about. Choices include style preferences that suit our personality.
We Either Contend for or Get Compromised regarding The Essentials of True Christian Faith
• 1 Timothy 6:12 (NLT) —Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have confessed so well before many witnesses.
• 1 Timothy 1:18 NLT — Timothy, my son, here are my instructions for you, based on the prophetic words spoken about you earlier. May they help you fight well in the Lord’s battles.
Cautions About Carving Out Our Convictions
4) Caution against 1 verse theology, as the Bible says everything shall be confirmed by 2-3 witnesses. God is consistent throughout Scripture about
• 2 Corinthians 13:1 “Every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.”
• 1 Timothy 5:19 Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses.
• Hebrews 10:28 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. (If this is a spiritual principle God established, it means that perhaps on average people are getting two opportunities to hear the Gospel.
• Deuteronomy 19:15 A matter (or facts of a case) must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.
• Deuteronomy 17:6 On the testimony of two or three witnesses a person is to be put to death, but no one is to be put to death on the testimony of only one witness.
• Matthew 18:16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’
• In Rev 11:3 God will give the world what may be its two final witnesses: Revelation 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and three score days, clothed in sackcloth.
5) Caution Against Feelings & Impressions That Lead Us To Violate Scripture
• I have had many impressions from the Lord that often prompt me to witness to someone.
• I know of people who have had Christians anonymously walk up to them and prophecy that they would go to a particular place for a particular ministry. Getting into ministry or going to witness to someone are Biblical activities.
• Chris Hopkins pointed out to us that Samson did something that typically is uncharacteristic for one of God’s people to do, and the Scripture says, in Judges 14:4 that this was from the Lord, who was going to use Samson against the Philistines, who ruled over Israel at that time.
• The Bible does not tell you whom will marry, but it tells you the type of person to marry, which is another Christian. It is rare that God would lead you to violate this. IN the case of Samson, the violation was part of a judgment on the enemy. It was not to make Samson a happy marriage. My theory is Samson was wayward, and God was going to use his waywardness. Samson in my eyes is somewhat of a tragic figure, but he is in the Hebrews Hall of Faith
6) Caution Against Scriptural Violations That May Make Us Feel Good
• Arnold G. Fruchtenbaum of Chafer Theological Seminary, Fountain Valley, CA, says “Satan would not be a very good deceiver if he made you feel bad, would he? Satan can give people joyful and happy experiences, and doing so would be in his best interest if that–rather than the Word of God–becomes the final authority for determining spiritual truth.
7) Caution To Put Things In The Hands of The Lord And Don’t Take Them Back!
• I have had some experiences and I know people who have had some, whereby you go to church leaders and seek counsel, and they pray about it, and confer with you, and you don’t like the answer, and decide to do things contrary to what Godly counsel has provided. I’ve never seen such situations go well.
Personal Confidences, Preferences, Persuasions & Opinions
a) When you give your opinion on something, you offer a conclusion or a judgment that, although it may be open to question, seems true or probable to you at the time (Apple Dictionary)
b) while a persuasion (in this sense) is a strong belief that is unshakable because you want to believe that it’s true rather than because there is evidence proving it so (she was of the persuasion that he was innocent). (Apple Dictionary)
c) A view is an opinion that is affected by your personal feelings or biases (Apple Dictionary)
d) A sentiment is a more or less settled opinion that may still be colored by emotion. (Apple Dictionary)
e) A belief differs from an opinion or a view in that it is not necessarily the creation of the person who holds it; the emphasis here is on the mental acceptance of an idea, a proposition, or a doctrine and on the assurance of its truth (religious beliefs). (Apple Dictionary)
